PHASE 2

NALA PLAYGROUND NEW CONSTRUCTION

 

Phase 2 of this project is the design, construction and installation of new equipment for the NALA playground. These items include work in the playground and some general exterior building maintenance. These are our minimum goals for this project.

 

FENCING

  1. The perimeter masonry wall around the playground is too low and allows easy access for outside individuals. We are proposing to install an ornamental railing on top of the existing wall. This railing should have 3-1/2’ spacing and be painted to match the wall and building
  2. This metal railing will also be installed on 2 area of the existing structure to keep outsiders off of the roof
  3. Also we are planning to install a 48’ high chain link fence closing off the back corner of the play ground. This is being done at the request of the SNHD but will allow us pace for a new “growing area”. This fence will have the plastic inserts to make it non-climbable and a 42”high latch on the gate. Please the site plan for its location.

 

 

SHADE AREAS

By closing off the back corner of the playground we are eliminating the trees that are there from the shade calculations for the entire playground. We will now have to furnish and install a new shade structure of 300SQ FT minimum to compensate. The specifications for this structure are still pending.

 

 

PLAYGROUND AREA

  1. We are proposing to furnish an entirely new piece of playground equipment. Although the exact determination of the equipment has not been determined it will include a new swing, slide and climbing area.
  2. We are also planning to install a new rubberized play surface under this equipment.
  3. Also we are going to be removing the existing concrete curb around the play area so that the new rubber surface will align with the existing concrete  for ADA

 

 

 

 

GROWING AREA

On the east side of the playground we are planting a growing area. The facility plans to plant various plants to show the children how things grow. This area will also include benches to allow for outside classroom presentations or readings.

 

 

TOYS

We will be making a bulk purchase of tricycle and other playground equipment for the facility including 12” Angeles Tricycles (20), balls, jump ropes, hula hoops

 

LANDSCAPING

At this time we will be doing a general re-landscaping of the entire project changing from dead grass to water conservative plants and rocks. See the landscaping plan for all of the details

 

PAVEMENT

The existing asphalt pavement needs to be repaired and resurfaced.

 

EXTERIOR PAINTING

  1. Our plan is to repaint all of the exterior masonry fence and the existing building. This will include sanding and repainting the wood trims.
  2. Also we will be repainting the curbs
  3. Restriping of the parking stall lines

 

SIGNAGE

  1. We are planning to furnish and install a new NALA sign on the building
  2. Also scheduled is a plaque recognizing the participants of this project.
